Toulouse - In the heart of France

The city with the "Je ne sais quoi"

The romantic dream of France, with its small alleys, baguettes with wine for lunch can become a reality in Toulouse. When visiting the city, located in the Pyrenees in the south of France, it's above all the green spaces that catch the eye, making the city appear a lot less hectic. The banks of the river Garonne, which winds through the city, encourage you to relax.

Discover Toulouse

The fourth largest city in France mostly impresses with historic buildings and plenty of French flair. A visit to the Basilica St. Sernin is highly recommended. The Basilica is the most famous and one of the most beautiful Romanesque pilgrimage churches in the south of France. The breathtaking church was built with the typical regional bricks and is decorated lavishly on the inside. If you prefer nature then a visit to the Jardin des Plantes should be on your agenda. The botanical gardens, with a surface area of 23.5 hectares, are located right in the center of the city and consist of several small and very well maintained parks. Enjoy the peace and the rich fauna while strolling through the parks. You can also escape the city by venturing to the Canal du Midi. The canal connects Toulouse with the city of Sète on the Mediterranean Coast. The shaded paths along the canal are highly recommended for joggers and walkers. If you want to enjoy the surrounding area from the water, then it will be worthwhile for you to do a boat tour on the Canal du Midi. The Place du Capitole, surrounded by great buildings and often referred to as the heart of the city, is a favorite meeting place for the people of Toulouse. Many cafés and restaurants sweeten a visit to this square which owes its special flair to the many street artists. Students prefer to meet in the pubs around the Place Saint-Pierre and enjoy the French lifestyle with a cocktail or fresh coffee.
