The canal connects Toulouse with the city of Sète on the Mediterranean Coast. The shaded paths along the canal are highly recommended for joggers and walkers. If you want to enjoy the surrounding area from the water, then it will be worthwhile for you to do a boat tour on the Canal du Midi. The Place du Capitole, surrounded by great buildings and often referred to as the heart of the city, is a favorite meeting place for the people of Toulouse. Many cafés and restaurants sweeten a visit to this square which owes its special flair to the many street artists. Students prefer to meet in the pubs around the Place Saint-Pierre and enjoy the French lifestyle with a cocktail or fresh coffee.
