Experience the hanseatic city

The Hanseatic city, with its 1.75 million inhabitants, has many different sights which should not be missed. A must is a visit to the Hamburg Fish Market in Hamburg Altona where you can buy fresh fish, fruit, flowers and also souvenirs and clothes. The market features live music and gives you a bit of a taster for the typical Nordic charm of the city. If the weather is nice we recommend a trip to the Außenalster in the center of Hamburg. You have a wonderful view across the Alster and the city which is even more special when visited at sunset.
Those who love to party will be right at home on the famous Reeperbahn or in the Schanzenviertel. Bars and clubs are stacked right next to each other and there is so much to see and experience. The Schanzenviertel is the trendy neighborhood per se and attracts thousands of visitors to the streets with its small cafés, boutiques and excessive party nights.

City tip

In the evening a visit to the Speicherstadt is highly recommended with its unique modern and unusual architecture. It is at this time especially that you can experience the effect of these new buildings. The Elbphilharmonie in particular will take your breath away.
In Hamburg you don't need a car to get around; the U-Bahn or the bike will make your journey quicker and saves you a lot of hassle. You can borrow bikes all around the city and start your own city tour. Naturally, you simply have to try one of the famous Hamburg fish buns which are at their best very early in the morning. The best fish buns are available on the Fischmarkt already from 4am. You will not regret getting up early. The Jenischpark or the Portuguese Quarter are great for relaxing.
